Story Time

There will be no Story Time at the Coliseum Branch Library during the month of August. We hope to see you September 7, 2017 at 10:00 am.


Parent Pre-school Activity Center

Every three weeks we will have a new activity to enhance the five senses and further develop

your child’s thought processes. This is an activity where parent and child explore together.

Fun With Ukuleles

Come to a ukulele jam, beginners are welcome.


Lego League

There will be no Lego League during the month of August.

We hope to see you September 12 and 26 at 4:00 pm for our new Lego season.

Today we will make decorative candleholders utilizing tissue paper. You will not need to bring any materials.


Computer Class

We will be concentrating on Microsoft Word during the month of August.

Genealogical Research – Ancestry Library Edition

10:00 – 12:00

Each Thursday (except 5th) in August you can register for a 45 minute appointment with our volunteer who will guide you in how to get started with Ancestry or your next steps.  You must pre-register to assure our volunteer will be available to assist. 271-7005

Robert Negro, a retired federal criminal investigator in the Drug Enforcement Administration, will be presenting a program on Fraud Protection.


Fiber Arts

3:00 pm

Do you have something you can teach, or would you like to learn how to do something? We still have looms and yarn, so bring your knitting needles and crochet hooks. Also, bring any projects you are working on that you would like to share.


Total Solar Eclipse Watch

August 21, 2017

1:00 – 3:00 pm

We will have information about the total solar eclipse available to interested patrons on August 18 and 21. The times specified for our viewing area are for August 21 with the eclipse beginning at 12:03, with maximum viewing at 1:34, and ending at 3:00 pm.


Tai Chi Class

A Tai Chi class will be coming September 11, 18, 25, and October 2 from 10:00 – 11:00 am. This will be a 4-week introduction to Tai Chi taught by Jim Caldwell.  You will need to come by to pre-register and complete a waiver form before attending any of these classes.

Southern Charms Book Club

August 10, 2017

3:00 pm

Today we will discuss the book, “Citizens Creek”, by Lalita Tademy, a story of the first black chief of the Creek Indian nation and his granddaughter, who sustains his legacy of courage. Then, we will receive our book for September titled, “In the Name of the Family”, by Sarah Dunant.  This is a story of the final years of the House of Borgia during Renaissance Italy.
