Join the Ladies of High Tea and have a “cuppa” Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 3PM. We meet the first Tuesday of each month at 3PM. We will be reading for our yearly classic the book Great Expectations by Charles Dickens.
Great Expectations is Charles Dickens’s thirteenth novel. It is his second novel, after David Copperfield, to be fully narrated in the first person. Great Expectations is a bildungsroman, or a coming-of-age novel, and it is a classic work of Victorian literature. It depicts the growth and personal development of an orphan named Pip.… Great Expectations has a colorful cast that has entered popular culture: the capricious Miss Havisham, the cold and beautiful Estella, Joe the kind and generous blacksmith, the dry and sycophantic Uncle Pumblechook, Mr. Jaggers, Wemmick with his dual personality, and the eloquent and wise friend, Herbert Pocket.
In October the Ladies of High Tea will be reading The Pursuit by Lori Wick.
The Pursuit, book four in the English Garden series, is set in the spring of 1812, in Collingbourne, England. Edward Steele has enjoyed a great adventure in Africa with his brother, Henry. Now Henry has returned to England, and Edward is ready to follow. However, on his way home, he tells two strangers he will help them, and he stands by that promise. Little does he know that meeting these two men will delay his return, lead him to encounter a woman who captivates him, and change his life forever.
Stitch and Share will meet the fourth Thursday of September at 3PM. We invite you to bring your quilts, knitting, crochet, or any other kind of needlework and join us. If you are stuck on a project need help maybe we can get you going again! The date to remember is September 22.
