Pike Road Branch Library Kids and Youth Hour

NOVEMBER

Wednesdays @ 4pm

 

4th –  Be a little pilgrim and make a basket using today’s snacks to bring the story,

               Squanto’s and the First Thanksgiving, by Teresa Celsi to life.                                                

 

11th– Closed for Holiday

 

18th -  4-H with Brenda Henson. We will discuss the nutritious aspect of bread and the

            kids will take home a loaf. Ages 9 and up.       

 

25th –  Bookmark’s Book Club (teens and tweens)

                Come join the group to discuss their books and have  an after school snack.

                The boys are reading Trapped at the Bottom of the Sea by Frank Peretti

                The girls are reading Summer Promise, the first story in the Christi Miller Collection Vol. 1.

 

Trapped at the Bottom of the Sea, by Christian novelist Frank Peretti, is an adventure story of a girl Lila trapped in the Pacific ocean floor inside a secret weapon pod. There is a race between the terrorists and the good guys. Who will be first?

 

Christy Miller Series is a Christian series of books for teenage girls by Robin Gunn. Christy, a 14 year old farm girl from Wisconsin, spends her summer with her aunt and Uncle in California. She is faced with challenges quite different from her safe country life.

                                                Express Yourself With Dance

 

Performance – Thursday, October 15,  11-1:00 pm.

 

You will be expressing yourself with this program.  You will spend weekly sessions getting ready for a performance for your family and friends with dance movements.  Please call and register for this program, young adult department (334-240-4983).

The winner will receive a prize at the end of the program.

 

 

 

                                                Book and Poetry Contest

 

Thursday, October 29,  11-1:00 pm

 

Celebrate the themes of art, poetry and drama!  Enjoy read aloud, lively discussion.  Here is your chance to express yourself by performing original or written poetry, songs or monologues.  You can also come to listen and cheer others on.  Please call and register for this program.  The winner will receive a prize.

 

 

                                                TEEN ADVISORY BOARD

 

All teens are welcome to join the teen advisory board.  Come out and  meet with your friends and Ms. Johnson , the Young Adult Librarian.  Bring your ideas for programs, books and more.  Refreshments will be served as we brainstorm new ideas  The Teen  Advisory board meeting held every first Thursday of the month.
